A little of what goes through my mind
Who I am, why I created Figueirego, and what I want to share: experiences, things I learn, and ideas to discuss and return to later.

I wanted a place of my own on the internet. Somewhere to share what I experience and learn, show my projects, and write about the things that interest me. That wish stayed an idea for a while, until I decided to make it happen.
That’s how Figueirego came to be. The name combines my surname, Figueirêdo, with Go, the programming language. I wanted a playful variation that had a little of me in it. I liked the combination, and it stuck.
Programming is part of my life and will come up a lot here, but I don’t want it to define the boundaries of this space. I have other interests, and I want the freedom to write about those too.
Beyond programming
I’m Matheus Figueirêdo. I love books: Tolkien, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, manga… I also love films and anime. Some of those stories will probably find their way into a post here.
I enjoy studying languages, especially English, French, and Japanese. Music is also part of my life, with a preference for rock, particularly indie rock. Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, and Los Hermanos are among my favorite bands.
I love animals, especially dogs and birds. I have a French bulldog who couldn’t be left out of this introduction.
I studied Mathematics at university through my fourth semester, and I still enjoy learning about it on my own. I’m also interested in aerospace engineering, cooking, and various other subjects I explore as an enthusiast in my spare time. I like having the freedom to study something simply because it caught my curiosity and I want to understand it better.
I don’t intend to turn every interest into a publishing commitment. I just want to write about a book, an idea, or something I’ve learned without feeling that it doesn’t belong on my own blog.
A place to return to
When I thought about why I wanted a blog, one phrase came to mind: a backup of my brain.
It’s a way to keep things I might want to look up later. Something I studied, a project I worked on, an experience that stayed with me, or a thought I’m still trying to make sense of.
I also want to come back to these posts and see how I thought at a particular time. See what changed, what no longer makes sense, and what I still carry with me. I’m curious about the future version of myself who will read all this again.
What I write here reflects what I can understand at that moment. I want room to discover myself, change my mind, and reinvent myself, without having to pretend I already have a final opinion on everything.
Sharing my thoughts is also a way to connect with other people. I’m not trying to impose my ideas. I want to explain them, hear about other people’s experiences, and see what might come out of that conversation.
What you’ll find here
That will depend a little on what I’m experiencing and learning.
Some posts will be more personal. Others might start with a book, a song, studying a language, or something that made me curious enough to do some research. I want the freedom to choose the subject and the willingness to explore it in depth.
If I write about a book, I want to explore what caught my attention and why it stayed with me. If I share something I’ve studied, I want to explain the reasoning, give examples, and leave references for anyone who wants to go further. When I describe a project, I want to show the choices, the attempts that went wrong, and what I learned from them.
That care applies to any subject. I want to explain how I arrived at what I’m saying and make it clear when something is my experience, an opinion, or something I researched. Some posts will need more space, and that’s fine. I want them to include details that help things make sense, in an approachable voice, without unnecessary formality.
In the first posts, I want to tell the story of how I built this website and blog. I’ll work through the decisions, tools, difficulties, and changes along the way. After that, I also want to explore how I approached the site’s structure, its presence in search results, and the automations that help keep it running.
The site also has a professional purpose: to show my projects and make my work more visible. That was part of my motivation for making it happen too. I want someone who arrives through a project to get to know a little of the person behind it.
For now, this first post is an introduction and a beginning. The next ones will tell more of that story.
If something here connects with an experience you’ve had, something you’ve studied, or a different way of seeing things, feel free to bring it to the comments. I’d like to hear your side of the conversation.
Until the next post.
